Cabo de Gata y Las Negras

CABO DE GATA

To enjoy the Natural Park Cabo de Gata - Nijar we recommend you do excursion on foot, cycling or by car along its endless beaches and corners.

From the Playa de Los Muertos to the very beach of Cabo de Gata, passing through the Cala de El Plomo, San Pedro, Monsul o Genoveses you will find a wide range of possibilities for relaxing in its virgin coves.

We also recommend a visit to the picturesque towns such as La Isleta del Moro, Rodalquilar, San José or Nijar where you will find all the crafts and pottery typical of the area.

Finally, we recommend a visit to the cortijo del Fraile, the scene of Blood Wedding, the castle of San Felipe in Escullos or the castle of San Ramón in Rodalquilar.

LAS NEGRAS

Legend has it that the town of Las Negras was founded after a maritime tragedy. The men of the nearby town of San Pedro went out to sea on a bad night and never returned. The women, who were widowed, saw the need to get nearer to the rest of the towns to survive.

The name of the new town was given after the mourning of the founding women, dressed in black.

In its origin the town was barely ten white houses very close to the sea. Despite the growth of the town and tourism, Las Negras still maintains the character of the small town it used to be.
